I'm heading down to the US Olympic Trials - Track & Field in Eugene, Ore. I've never been to the legendary Hayward Field, a Mecca for track and field. It was here on 3 February 1963 following Bowerman's New Zealand visit with his 4x 1 mile track team that he would bring Arthur Lydiard's concept of jogging to the american masses. On this same track my hero Steve Prefontaine, the James Dean of track, raced in 38 races between 1970-1975, losing only three times, all at one mile.

Slicing Up Eyeballs: The Legacy of '80s College Rock reminds me that the Tom Tom Club's first album containing the infectious hit single 'Wordy Rappinghood' was released on June 23, 1981. Check out this version of the song by the Munich, Germany based multi-national musical and fine art ensemble Chicks on Speed. 

An outtake from the 1964 record 'The Times They Are A-Changin' this is one of my favorite Dylan tunes called 'Seven Curses'. It can be found on The Bootleg Series Volumes 1–3 (Rare & Unreleased) 1961–1991.

A friend just posted on Facebook from Hell's Gate on Possum Kingdom Lake in Palo Pinto County Texas. It reminded me of this song 'Possum Kingdom' by the 1990's alternative rock band The Toadies who hailed from Fort Worth, Texas.
